Southwest Kitchener Optimist Club provides an opportunity for many youth in our community to participate in a team building sport at an affordable cost. Our club focuses on non-competitive baseball that teaches the basic principles of team play and above all - Fun. We run baseball, BlastBall, T-Ball, 3-Pitch, and Slo-Pitch programs for boys and girls ages 3 - 16.

End of year Base Ball Picnic on June 22, 2019

Hello Southwest Kitchener Optimist Players & Families!
Our Year End Picnic is Fast Approaching. The Picnic will be held on June 22, 2019 at the Southwest Kitchener Optimist Club from 9am until 2pm. We will have ball games throughout the day with all teams playing. Coaches & Players will receive a free hotdog, water and freezie. Hotdog, Water & Freezies will be available to others for $1 each. Free Popcorn will also be available.
There will be a bouncy castle for younger children from 9am to 1pm.
In addition, there will be Opening Ceremonies to celebrate the Opening of the New Diamonds at 10:00am between Diamonds 1&2 with Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. The renovations look amazing, come show your support:)

2019 Baseball Information:

Baseball registration will be held on March 16, 23, April 13 and 20  at 9a.m. - 12p.m. at the Optimist Clubhouse located at 120 Pioneer Drive. Please refer to the break down of the variety of styles which the Optimist Club offers to find the best fit for your child. The Optimist Club holds a end-of-season picnic where there will be ball games, activities and a barbecue. Registration forms and baseball information is located below. *Please note all coaches NEED TO HAVE A POLICE CHECK RECORD COMPLETED and/or SIGN A BACKGROUND CHECK DECLARATION at the time of registration.

Important dates to remember:

Registration  from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. BLASTBALL $55.00/ player and ALL OTHER DIVISIONS $65/PLAYER  CASH ONLY PLEASE!

Season start :

  • May 6 (weather permitting) to June 22
  • Picture day TBA
  • Baseball Picnic TBA

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING A POLICE CHECK FOR SOUTHWEST OPTIMIST

All volunteers who work with children are required to obtain a Police Check every 3rd year of coaching. A Background Declaration is required to be signed for each of the 2 years in between.

To apply for a Police Check:
1. log onto the Waterloo Regional Police website at:
https://recordcheck.wrps.on.ca/RecordsCheckRequest.php

2. Scroll down to Waterloo Regional Police Online Record Check Application Form.
3. Click on Vulnerable Sector Check (under Type of Request)
4. Indicate where you would like to pick up your completed check (click on arrow to see choices)
5. Complete the Personal Information section
6. Complete the Contact Information section
7. Under Reason for Request – click on Volunteer
8. Under Organization – type in Southwest Kitchener Optimist Club
9. Under Description – type in Coach or assistant coach of ball team
10. Add details of your responsibilities
11. Acknowledge Disclaimer and Submit.

The Police Department will call you when your record is ready for pick-up. Deliver record to Gary Young or Helen Wilson at the Southwest Kitchener Optimist Club.

Blast BALL

 Blast Ball is a very simple concept utilizing the skills of baseball in a fun, fast-paced activity for young players. Blast Ball teaches five fundamentals of baseball. Designed for new players starting out. Click Here for more information.

T-BALL

T-Ball is a game of baseball between two teams of 11 players with sufficient number if alternatives. T-Ball is designed to get young people interested in the game of baseball by teaching them the fundamentals in a fair, fun and safe way. Click Here for more information.

3-Pitch

3-Pitch is a game of baseball between two teams of 10 players each inning. A regulation game consists of 7 innings. This 3-Pitch style game is designed to continue the players development skills at the next level of baseball. Click Here for more information.
