Southwest Kitchener Optimist Club provides an opportunity for many youth in our community to participate in a team building sport at an affordable cost. Our club focuses on non-competitive baseball that teaches the basic principles of team play and above all - Fun. We run baseball, BlastBall, T-Ball, 3-Pitch, and Slo-Pitch programs for boys and girls ages 3 - 16.
Baseball registration will be held on March 16, 23, April 13 and 20 at 9a.m. - 12p.m. at the Optimist Clubhouse located at 120 Pioneer Drive. Please refer to the break down of the variety of styles which the Optimist Club offers to find the best fit for your child. The Optimist Club holds a end-of-season picnic where there will be ball games, activities and a barbecue. Registration forms and baseball information is located below. *Please note all coaches NEED TO HAVE A POLICE CHECK RECORD COMPLETED and/or SIGN A BACKGROUND CHECK DECLARATION at the time of registration.
Due to the upgrading at the SWO Ball Fields we MIGHT be using alternate diamonds for our program.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING A POLICE CHECK FOR SOUTHWEST OPTIMIST
All volunteers who work with children are required to obtain a Police Check every 3rd year of coaching. A Background Declaration is required to be signed for each of the 2 years in between.
To apply for a Police Check:
1. log onto the Waterloo Regional Police website at:
2. Scroll down to Waterloo Regional Police Online Record Check Application Form.
3. Click on Vulnerable Sector Check (under Type of Request)
4. Indicate where you would like to pick up your completed check (click on arrow to see choices)
5. Complete the Personal Information section
6. Complete the Contact Information section
7. Under Reason for Request – click on Volunteer
8. Under Organization – type in Southwest Kitchener Optimist Club
9. Under Description – type in Coach or assistant coach of ball team
10. Add details of your responsibilities
11. Acknowledge Disclaimer and Submit.
The Police Department will call you when your record is ready for pick-up. Deliver record to Gary Young or Helen Wilson at the Southwest Kitchener Optimist Club.
